Public Private Initiative at Mediclinic Vergelegen and Strand
It’s Saturday morning and in the sunny, newly built paediatric ward at Mediclinic Vergelegen, there is a tangible feeling of apprehension and excitement. Today, 10 public health patients (five from Red Cross Children’s Hospital patients and five from Groote Schuur) are about to undergo long-awaited eardrum repair surgery at Mediclinic Vergelegen and Mediclinic Strand.
Working together to help people hear better
There was an atmosphere of calm anticipation and friendly efficiency at the newly-refurbished Mediclinic Vergelegen and nearby Mediclinic Strand hospitals on Saturday. Five children from Red Cross Children’s Hospital as well as five adults from Groote Schuur Hospital were there to have life-changing eardrum repair (tympanoplasty) surgery.
Groote Schuur and Mediclinic join hands
In September, doctors at Mediclinic Milnerton – in partnership with Groote Schuur hospital and the Department of Health – performed cataract removal procedures on eight patients. These life-changing surgeries marked the beginning of a large-scale Corporate Social Investment project focusing on public and private collaboration.
