Laser surgery for twin-twin transfusion syndrome

Anja Sonnendecker’s pregnant belly swelled to double its size in a few days – her identical twins had twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), a potentially fatal complication in about one in five identical twin pregnancies sharing a single placenta. Fortunately, she was referred to Dr Lou Pistorius at Mediclinic Panorama who offers laser treatment to break this connection and help normalise the pregnancy.
