Laser surgery for twin-twin transfusion syndrome

Anja Sonnendecker’s pregnant belly swelled to double its size in a few days – her identical twins had twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), a potentially fatal complication in about one in five identical twin pregnancies sharing a single placenta.

Fortunately, she was referred to Dr Lou Pistorius at Mediclinic Panorama who offers laser treatment to break this connection and help normalise the pregnancy. Watch incredible footage of the foetal surgery as their story unfolds.
