TRUTH OR TALE NO. 9
Posted on 31 January 2018
When pregnant, craving sweet food means it’s a girl and craving salty food means it’s a boy.
ANSWER: Tale
The sweet vs. sour gender theory is nothing but a tale.
While food cravings during pregnancy are very normal, and much research in the exact causes of food cravings are still being done, there is no proven correlation between what the mother may be craving and what the gender of her baby is.
This seems to be another tale that has been perpetuated by people’s curiosity about their baby’s gender in a time before advanced ultrasounds and scans were available.
In addition, this little tale does not account for the fact that many women crave both sweet and sour foods during their pregnancy, and that these women can carry boys or girls.
