TRUTH OR TALE NO. 10

Posted on 1 January 2018

Drinking milk promotes breast milk production.

ANSWER: Tale

While at first glance this seems to be a logical assumption to be made, the logic is flawed and this claim is nothing more than a tale.

What is interesting though is that it is true that a lot of what a mother ingests does go into her breast milk. So mothers should carefully consider any liquid they drink to make sure it is safe for them and their unborn baby.

One aspect of this tale that points to another truth is that the increased consumption of liquids in general does assist mothers with the production of breast milk. But as far as dairy and milk products go, they have no properties that give them a distinct advantage over any other liquid.
