Mediclinic Vergelegen reopens after flood

Following the flood of 15 November, Mediclinic Vergelegen will reopen its doors to the community on Wednesday, 27 November 2013, with the majority of doctors’ consulting rooms, four theatres as well as 90 ward and 10 ICU/High Care beds functioning as a multidisciplinary hospital.

Clean up operations are progressing well at Mediclinic Vergelegen after what the city estimated to be worse than a one-in-a-50-year flood necessitated the evacuation of the hospital on the evening of 15 November.

The management, doctors and staff of Mediclinic Vergelegen, together with volunteers and disaster risk management from the municipality and other emergency teams – including Western Cape Emergency Services and Disaster Management, ER24, the SAPS, Fire Services, Netcare 911, EMO and the Western Cape Ambulance Service – reacted swiftly in ensuring the safety of patients when a flood occurred at the hospital on the evening of 15 November 2013.

Mediclinic Vergelegen flood management underway

The management and staff of Mediclinic Vergelegen reacted swiftly in ensuring the safety of patients and staff when a flood occurred at the hospital on the evening of 15 November 2013. The flood followed excessive storms in the Somerset West area and necessitated the evacuation of all patients.
