At this stage, most Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour participants are performing at their peak and are now contemplating their race strategy. Part of this should be making sure you are fit to ride, especially if you:

• are taking chronic medication
• have a newly diagnosed or existing medical condition
• have sustained a recent or suffers a recurring injury,

then having a free health screening should be the first thing you do when you visit the the Cape Argus Lifecycle Expo.

Simply bring along your registration pack to the Mediclinic Medical Mezzanine where we will partnering with PathCare and ER24 to provide a professional blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood glucose screening service for the duration of the expo (7 – 9 March). Doctors and dieticians will be on hand to offer sound advice on a wide range of health-related questions.

This service has a far bigger role than calming your pre-race jitters, it helps create an invaluable medical database, sourced from the information provided when riders enter the race and from the screening at the expo. Simply by entering a race number into our sophisticated electronic system, the medical personnel has access to a comprehensive medical history of that rider, which allows them to make clinically sound decisions about treatment.

This is also why it is so important you don’t ride with someone else’s number. If you are incapacitated and can’t speak for yourself, you could put yourself at risk as we rely on the information on the database.
