Electronic patient management system

Posted on 1 March 2013

Mediclinic has a specially designed electronic patient system which helps create an invaluable medical database, sourced from the information provided when riders enter the race and from the screening at the Lifestyle Expo. Simply by entering a race number into our sophisticated electronic system, the medical personnel has access to a comprehensive medical history of that rider, which allows them to make clinically sound decisions about treatment.

This is also why it is so important you don’t ride with someone else’s number. If you are incapacitated and can’t speak for yourself, we rely on the data provided by the system to treat you. If these records tell us that the rider associated to that particular race number is taking chronic medication, or has a lifestyle-related condition such as diabetes, high-blood pressure or high cholesterol, we will treat accordingly. This could be seriously detrimental to you if you don’t suffer from that condition.

The information provided in this article was correct at the time of publishing. At Mediclinic we endeavour to provide our patients and readers with accurate and reliable information, which is why we continually review and update our content. However, due to the dynamic nature of clinical information and medicine, some information may from time to time become outdated prior to revision.
